The homes from the 87 crash It wasn't raelly a crash like we have today, home priced declined but people did not abandon there homes like they are today, I knew a few people that foreclosed but it wasn't even close to the numbers of today. The homes didn't sit empty as long and there were not as many of them on the market, I bought in late 88 and the market continued to decline till the beginning of 91 then the recovery began and home prices began to increase, The whole process was raelly less than 4 years and those that bought in late 90 bounced the real bottom. The real pain was for those who bought in 86-87-early 88 loss for those people was about 15-20%, Prices/taxes were not what they were today, My purchase price was under a 100k mortgage taxes ins was $600 a month @ 9% mortgage interest in 1988, My taxes were $1460 that year That same $600 bucks won't even cover the tax bill today.
